Philippians 3:20
Part 6
First and foremost in your ability to have a spiritual mind, is the issue of salvation. A person who is not saved has no hope of either a spiritual mind or genuine effective joy. It is not religion or church or tradition that brings eternal life or joy but only a genuine saving faith in Jesus Christ. | Read Devotionals |

Having a Joy-Filled Life In Troubled Times: The Growth of the Gospel
090723 Thursday, July 23, 2009 Daily Message (Joy)
Phil 1:12
Part 3
Philippians 1:12 - But I want you to know, brethren, that the things which happened to me have actually turned out for the furtherance of the gospel, (NKJV)
Remember our main point up to now: a key to having joy in troubled times is our focus on Christ. And one way to focus on Christ is to make the gospel a priority in your life. Simply put, it’s hard to be joyless when you are focused on and sharing the Good News of Salvation.
In Philippians chapter 1 verses 12 to 26, you see that Paul focuses on Christ being preached and to live is to honor Christ. Instead of lamenting his circumstances, he chooses to take joy in everything that happened to him, God allowed so that the Gospel could be promoted:
Philippians 1:12 - But I want you to know, brethren, that the things which happened to me have actually turned out for the furtherance of the gospel, (NKJV) | Read Devotionals |

Phil 1:4

Part 2
Choose to pray for others. Choose to bless others. Choose to focus on others and not yourself. Choose happiness. Choose righteousness. Choose self discipline. Choose joy.
A key to having joy in troubled times is to choose to focus on others, praying and blessing them rather than focusing on your own circumstances. | Read Devotionals |

Having A Joy-filled Life in Troubled Times

Phil 1:4
Part 1
It would seem from the correspondence that I get, the general feeling across the board is that the world is becoming a more troubled place. Economic times are hard, society is moving farther away from God, it seems overall Christianity is increasingly attacked and open aggression against believers is on the steep rise. | Read Devotionals |

Helping Our Widow Neighbors

James 1:27
Whenever I wonder what I can do to please the Lord, I think of one verse that is a sure fire bet:
James 1:27 Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world. | Read Devotionals |

A Culture of Self Exaltation
090428 Tuesday, April 28, 2009 Daily Message (Humility)
Matthew 23:12

Generally speaking, the idea of being humble is dead. The idea and effort of personal exaltation is alive and well. Lest we play the hypocrite, we must admit that it is alive and well in the church too, from the pulpit to the pew. | Read Devotionals |

Saving Faith: Tests & Evidence That are NOT Proof
090416 Thursday, April 16, 2009 Daily Message (Salvation)
1 John 5:13
Part 2
We are answering the question: "Can a Christian know for sure they have genuine saving faith?"
The answer is YES! The same way we can prove other things: tests & evidence. Of course, we can only prove this to OURSELVES with an open and honest heart. I cannot prove it for you, and you cannot prove it for me. God does not leaving us hanging with a blind hope that we might be saved. He gives us plenty of objective measurements to evaluate this in our own heart.

Saving Faith: Tests & Evidence
090415 Wednesday, April 15, 2009 Daily Message (Salvation)
1 John 5:13
Part 1
I was asked this weekend the question, "how can you really know you are genuinely saved?" This is not a question about "once saved always saved." (eternal security). This question, more fully would go something like this:
"Is there any way I can look at my own life and person, and know for sure whether or not I'm genuinely saved?"

Trusting & Leaning: Answers
090403 Friday, April 03, 2009 Daily Message (Trust)
Proverbs 3.5
So what's my point? First, that we really stop and think about what our first reaction is: lean on our own understanding? Or trust in the Lord? Second, are we doing anything to actively teach and train ourselves to routinely trust the Lord in all things, disciplining our understanding to be cooperative with and subordinate to God's wisdom? | Read Devotionals |
